« Come See Veer with Totcycle »
September 22, 2009 Hey hey hey family bike people!
This Friday, Sept 25th, at 7pm, we'll be at a Wallingford screening of Veer, the award-winning bike culture documentary out of Portland that
"explores America’s fast-growing bicycling culture by profiling five people whose lives are inextricably tied to bicycling and the bike-centric social groups they belong to. The film follows these characters over the course of a year, offering a behind-the-scenes look at their personal struggles and triumphs. Veer examines what it means to be part of a community, and how social movements are formed."
Here's a less abstract review. I can't wait! Following the movie, we'll be part of a discussion with Cascade Bicycle Club, Spokespeople, and Bike Works on what to do with that throbbing case of Portland envy you'll have. Seattle bike culture and infrastructure feels a few evolutionary steps behind Portland's, but there's hope for us yet. We had a lot of bike fun this summer at various festivals and events, and the Kidical Mass rides are going strong.
Watch the trailer, and don't miss the screening! If anyone wants to ride from Ballard, let us know, and we can meet at Ballard Commons Park at 6pm.

Veer is a fantastic film. I really urge every cyclist to go see it.
I was able to make the screening that Cascade Bicycle Club sponsored back in June.
