Totcycle | Family Biking

Tots on bikes, kids as cargo, family cycling, and other high-occupancy velo goodness.

Not caring how much our bikes weigh since 2008.

« Kidical Mass & Tour de Fat »

This Saturday, 8/8/09, Kidical Mass will meet up at Ballard Commons Park just before 10 for an on-time 10am departure to Gasworks for the New Belgium Tour de Fat! See our July/August post for info, and our inaugural KM post for the route.

Bring your freak bikes, your kids, and a fly outfit or costume. The Tour de Fat looks to be a lot of fun, and we'll arrive in time for their 11am bike parade, which is "a costumed celebration of human-powered transportation". Quoth their 3rd Commandment:

3. May every generation come forth:This is a family friendly event. Costumes, bikes and a parade? We were thinking like kids when we created Tour de Fat.

I've not been able to get details on the route and riding style, but they aim to cover 6 miles in about 1 hour, and we're all invited. Print out their registration form and drop it off before the parade to save time. I make no promises about the appropriateness or legality of their big bike parade, but if it's not your cup of tea, there will be plenty of other bikey entertainment (Vaudeville! the Sprockettes! and More!).

See you on Saturday! Spread the good news ...
