Originally, we thought that iBert would be our biggest competitor, but we have come to find out that many purchase Tyke Toter when their child outgrows iBert. So all those iBert customers, you included, become potential customers of Tyke Toter. Our product's weight limit is up to 45 lbs. allowing even 4-5 year olds to still ride with mom and dad. Don't stop the fun of a front mount seat. Try out a Tyke Toter. You'll love it!

My daughter was about 15 months old when we started her out in the iBert seat and she loved it instantly. We lived in Minneapolis, MN at the time (USA's newest #1 biking city) and within 6 months there were easily a 12 on the road after I pushed it on other friends. It's so catchy (the green) to see that you automatically felt a kindred spirit with biker/tot you saw in the iBert. smile.

As far as the bar - true, be careful. Also, sadly, the child does eventually out grow it (my daughter at 3).

Lastly, my husband tacked the removable seat cushion into the plastic seat to keep it in place. We found that the original tacks didn't do the job for us.

This is a great site. Thanks!

I hadn't come across this in all the research I've been doing and it looks great. One never knows how these things are going to work out till you've actually fixed it to your bike and ridden with your child in it, so I'm pleased to see you will accept as new returns within 30 days. I'm definitely going to give it a whirl.

Our front-mount seat, the Tyke Toter has a suggested weight limit of up to 45 lbs. Many of our customers buy Tyke Toter after their child outgrows the iBert. Hope you find us and can enjoy many years of fun riding with your child!

I've been reading your blog and through all the comments, trying to find a solution to my dilemma, but haven't found one as yet! Perhaps you can advise me?

I've just bought a Yuba Boda Boda cargo bike (Dutch-style bike). Yuba makes a rear mounted baby seat to go with it (none of the other rear seats are compatible with the bike's geometry), but I was hoping to find a front-mounted seat for my 3-year-old, so I can carry one of my other older children on the back if I need to. Thing is, the 3-year old weighs 38lbs already and all the front-mounted seats seem to carry a max weight of 38lbs or less. He's really still too young not to be strapped into a seat of some sort.

My only option at the moment seems to be to purchase the Yuba rear seat and take it off if I need to lift one of the other kids, which I don't think is that easy. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.

I've read your post and followed all the links and followed their links and made phone calls and googled all the powers that be where child safety is concerned as well as our local state laws governing helmets and motorcycles. (Interesting to note it is completely legal and there are D.O.T. approved infant helmets for MOTORCYCLES- or as my ICU nurse hubby irreverantly calls them "donor-cycles" something I found terrifying and shocking given they can go highway speeds and given all the hullabaloo over babies on bikes...) My question though is this- Are there ANY actual studies on infant safety factors and where are they? I am finding at best anecdotal information even from BHSI, AAP and Harvard University. We have determined all the risks and the ways to best minimize them in motor vehicles. Wouldn't it be just as easy to do some REAL research and trouble shooting instead of throwing the baby out with the bath water? For example it seems the most common injuries institutions note are tipping over with a standing bike- Why aren't the safety folks selling dual kick stands as the solution instead of just the "Don't put your kid on a bike you lunatic" message? Do you know of any real studies done on the effects of vibration SPECIFIC to infant bike passengers? Obviously real babies couldn't be involved but we have great crash dummies and accelerometers easily available these days for such purposes.

I have been trying to figure out a way for my entire family to ride bikes together, consisting of my husband and me, two toddlers, and a 4 month old. I'm thinking if this trailer thing would work for me, we could have one seat on each bike, and put the baby in the trailer with a base! :) I just want to make sure it's safe. Thank you so much for posting this. I googled "how to ride a bike with a baby" and your blog popped up, and thank goodness it did! :)

So I called iBert and they said: "Try loosening it and pointing it forward when the seat is off the bike." A perfect solution; can't believe I didn't think of it myself. Duh. Anyway, works like a charm.

After a bad argument while out and walking halfway home, we haven't ridden in months. Trying to introduce it into regular day play in the house and will be a mist for the new balance bike. Hoping that since she's grown the helmet will fit better. As for winter gear, I'm not arguing with a two year old any more. No coat fine, goes in the bag.
